Multifaith Prayers for Peace

September 26, 2011

So wonderful to both witness and take part in a united prayer effort for peace at the Buddhist pagoda in Battersea Park.Catholics,Jews,Muslims,Sikhs,B’Hai,Hindus and a number of other religious leaders all met together to pray for peace and unite in a common purpose..MultiFaith and Interfaith dialogue is so much needed in our contemporary world.Herein lies the power for change and the building of good community relationships that are not subsumed in the  materialist outlook that all to readily distract us from God’s master plan for humanity.

Acupuncture and Ear Candles

September 3, 2011

Went to ChinaTown and had my first ever acupuncture session.Seems I have a lumpy tongue and restricted energy flow (chi).
I Lay on the couch front forwards with my head in a hole as if at the funfair picture stocks and had pins inserted into a dozen or more pertinent places..I was then instructed to lay still for 30 mins with heat upon my back and nature sounds at the back of me.I noticed change very quickly:Sensations in my hands, back, lower abdomen..it definately does something.

Next (when the pins were removed of course )I had a body and shoulder massage promptly followed on by a chinese acupressure head massage.I am a great fan of indian ayurvedic massage but the chinese head massage was rather good as well.

I had heard about ear candles so felt iI would entrust this to a professional lest I set both my self and my house alight .It was different and I remain yet sceptical as to just how sucessful it actually is but it was rather nice all the same. Two hours of pampering.I left the city on a comfort cloud which had beneficial knock on effects for days.If you havent tryed it ..do it!

Garu Fish Pedicure

January 23, 2011

Latest fad captured at the fantastic price of £10 ..courteousy of KGB deals who I strongly recommend for some first class bargains.I went to the bliss spa at Covent Garden and put my feet into a tank of Garu Fish who took great delight in suckering off all the dead skin.I was to say the least ,somewhat trepidous  about this.I am somewhat impulsive by nature but thought I had even outrun myself on this one.I was however most pleasantly surprised as to how nice this was not to mention the fact that I am still feeling the benefits two days on.I can actually feel the souls of my feet once more.Do this .It’s different,Its natural and it actually works!

Although I  can scarce draw a matchstick man  in proportion am rather proud that my great great great grandfather was an artist of some repute John Glover http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Glover_(artist)

My father God rest was rather good as well although he was always rather self efffacing  in the face of his betters.Iwill be posting some of his paintings here soon.Watch this space.

Aylesford Retreat

March 22, 2010

Spent time on retreat at the Carmelite Monastery in Aylesford on a Bereavement training weekend.Despite the rain and the huge emotional impact of the learning material it was a most inspiring weekend and put a spark in my heart.

No 1 The year I was born..1963

March 14, 2010

Some sort of subliminal preparedness for the years to come perhaps! Despite having eclectic tastes for most things all my life:Politics,Religion,Music,Men! I always had an often undeclared interest in Cliff Richard and the Shadows.Definately not cool in the 70′s when I was growing up.Having established an interest in the guitar which lingered and lingers still (melissaleeguitars.com)you will soon see a few of my favorite guitarists and singers start to make their appearance here.Watch this space.

On my allotment

March 13, 2010

Today I was somewhat startled to hear and seen a Green Parrot up above.Loads on Richmond common by all reports but first time seeing one in Earlsfield for me.I’ve always encouraged every kind of wildlife on site..in fact quite a menagerie of creatures about the place:Cats, squirrels, foxes, frogs, pidgeons, robins, tits, thrushes crows and ravens but Never ever before a parrot. Will definately keep putting out the  bread, crackers, fruit and seed. What a sanctuary it is.
